What we store when you make or buy a backdrop, why, and for how long.

Last updated: 23 October 2026

The short version

  • There are no accounts. You don't need to give us your name.
  • We store what we need to make, deliver and sell your backdrop.
  • Backdrops nobody bought are deleted after 90 days.
  • Photos you add to an edit are not stored on their own.
  • We don't sell your data, and we don't use cookies.

Who is responsible

Wallogo.com is the data controller for the personal data described here.

What we collect and why

When you make a backdrop

  • The website address you type, and the logo, company name, description and colours we look up for it. If you upload a logo, we store that file.
  • The style you pick and any extra wishes you write.
  • Your email address, if you give it, so we can send you the link when the backdrop is ready.
  • A random visitor ID kept in your browser and your IP address. We use them to count your 5 free tries a day (per browser, with a higher limit per IP address to stop abuse).

When you change a backdrop

We store what you asked for ("add plants", "evening light") with the new version. Photos you add are sent to our image model to make the change and are not stored on their own. The new backdrop can show your photo, and that image is stored like any other backdrop.

When you buy

Stripe handles the payment, and we never see your card details. Stripe tells us your email address, the amount and whether the payment went through. We keep your email with the backdrop to send the receipt and to send you your links again if you ask.

Emails we send

The "your backdrop is ready" email (only the latest one, about 5 minutes after you make it, and not if you've already bought it), your receipt, and your links when you ask for them on My backdrops.

When you write to us

If you use the contact form, sign up for the newsletter or send a business enquiry, we store what you enter (such as your name, email and message) to answer you.

Usage and errors

We log the steps people take on the site (for example "started a backdrop") with a session ID, IP address and browser type, to see where things go wrong. Vercel Analytics counts page views without cookies. If something breaks, an error report goes to Sentry. We don't use cookies; see cookies.

Who can see your backdrop

Each backdrop has a private link. Anyone with the link can see it, make changes and download what has been paid for, so share it only with people you trust. Files are kept in private storage, and download links stop working after 5 minutes.

We may pick backdrops to show in our gallery as examples. If you'd like yours taken down, email hello@wallogo.com.

Legal basis

  • Contract: making, storing and delivering your backdrop, taking payment and sending the emails you asked for.
  • Legitimate interests: the daily free-try limit, preventing abuse, fixing errors and understanding how the site is used.
  • Consent: the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • Legal obligation: keeping payment records for bookkeeping.

How long we keep it

  • Backdrops nobody bought (images, logo and brand details) are deleted 90 days after they were made, unless we show them in our gallery.
  • Records of each try (email, visitor ID, IP address and brand details) are deleted after 90 days.
  • Backdrops you bought are kept so your link keeps working. Ask us and we'll delete them.
  • Payment records are kept as long as Norwegian bookkeeping law requires.
  • Unsubscribes are kept so we don't email you again.

Other records, such as usage logs and messages you send us, are kept only as long as we need them for the purpose they were collected for.

Who processes your data for us

We use these providers. They only process data on our behalf.

  • Supabase: database, file storage and server functions, hosted in the EU (Ireland).
  • Google (Gemini API): makes the images. It receives your logo, company name, description and colours, the style, your change requests and any photos you add.
  • Brand Peek: looks up the logo, colours and company details for the website address you type.
  • Stripe: payments.
  • Resend: sends our emails.
  • Vercel: hosts the website and measures page views and speed without cookies.
  • Sentry: error reports, stored in the EU (Germany).

Transfers outside the EEA

Google, Stripe, Resend and Vercel are US companies, so some data may be processed in the US. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete your data, ask us to limit or stop using it, get a copy in a machine-readable format, and withdraw consent you've given.

Email hello@wallogo.com from the address you used, or include the link to your backdrop, so we can find your data. We reply within one month.

If you think we've handled your data wrongly, you can complain to Datatilsynet, the Norwegian data protection authority, or to the authority in your own country.

Cookies

We don't use cookies. What we keep in your browser, and why, is on our cookies page.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the service changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
