All platforms mirror your own preview. "Mirror toggle" means you can turn that off in settings. Others always see your background the right way round.

Why does my background look flipped?

Video apps mirror your own preview, like a mirror, so your movements feel natural. This means any text, logos, or directional elements on your virtual background will appear backwards to you.

The good news: other participants always see your background the correct way around. Your logo, company name, and text all display perfectly for everyone else on the call.

✅ Can disable mirroring

Zoom and Webex both have a mirror setting under Video, so you can see yourself as others see you.

⚠️ No toggle available

Teams, Google Meet and Slack mirror your own preview with no option to change it. Don't flip your image, or it will look wrong to everyone else.

Why use virtual backgrounds?

The same room from anywhere

Kitchen, spare room or hotel: people see the same background on every call.

Your name in the frame

A backdrop with your logo on the wall keeps your company in view for the whole call.

Your home stays private

You decide what people see behind you.

Nothing to buy or hang

It's an image. Your video app does the rest, no green screen needed on most computers.
